Hellbrunn Palace was built from 1613 to 1619 and used as a day residence in summer by Markus Sittikus von Hohenems, Prince-Archbishop of Salzburg.
The highlight of the Hellbrunn is Trick Fountain where you can get a glimpse of the archbishop’s mischievous pranks. There is stone theater, the mechanical theatre where more than 163 figures are played by water pressure, Crown Grotto which in the middle of which a bursting jet of water raises a crown and holds it almost immovably at the desired height. Expect the unexpected! Anywhere you are, the trick fountains would spray water from all nozzles and spouts.
You can also enjoy the exhibition at the Hellbrunn Palace and stroll through the palace park of Hellbrunn. In the park, you may find out the pavilion where Liesl and Franz first met and sang 'I am sixteen going on seventeen' from the movie, sound of music.
